For Young Audiences
Schools

We’re really pleased to be providing an ever-expanding programme of work for school-age audiences and are keen to offer added benefits to groups coming to school performances in the form of talks, workshops and resource packs whenever we can.
Tours and talks
Here at the TF, our doors are always open. If you’d like to bring a school group for a tour of the space and a chat with the staff about how we work and what we do, then please do get in touch. We’ve experience of tailoring visits to meet specific curriculum needs and look forward to welcoming you.
Work experience
We’re well aware that there’s a really high level of demand for work experience placements in theatres, particularly from amongst year 10 students. Unfortunately, because we’re such a small organisation, we’re not in a position to be able to accommodate students for weeklong placements or placements that take place over a long period of time. However, it is often possible for us to accommodate students for half a day or a day. The TF is primarily a receiving house and only produces a couple of its own shows every year, which means that placements usually involve finding out about how we run from day to day, spending time shadowing our Box Office and Front of House staff and helping out in the Theatre Office, rather than assisting on a production. If your students are interested in getting some work experience here, please advise them to write or email us directly telling us who they are and explaining what they’d hope to get out of the experience.
Workshops
Last year we worked with Myrtle Theatre Company to deliver a weeklong workshop to a class of children from South Street Primary School. The children came here to the TF and worked with the Myrtle team to develop a play from scratch, which they performed to their family and peers at the end of the week in the TF’s main theatre space. If you’d like to talk to us about how we could deliver a similar project for your school, then please get in touch.
Other
You may have received a special schools newsletter highlighting everything in our Sept - Dec 09 season of interest to school-age audiences. If you didn’t and woud like to be added to our schools mailing list, please get in touch. We’re also very happy to send you posters and flyers to decorate your classroom or publicise visits.
