Development

The Tobacco Factory theatre’s success depends on us being a thriving centre for development. Our development activities support shows that grow our audience’s interests and nurture the ideas and skills necessary for the theatre ecology to develop.
Our two now well-established programmes, Prototype and Script Space, are the cornerstones of our development practice (click on links for further details). These programmes have proven to be highly successful and we are now creating ways to assist some of the shows that have developed through them to grow to full production.

We also have two excellent rehearsal spaces and we off-set income from sub-letting these to provide subsidised rehearsal space to companies and artists that we want to work with.

Finally, within our team we hold expertise across a number of areas, and we have a broad network of friends and partners who are experts in others.  We are always happy to share knowledge or contacts and advise artists and companies in any way that we can.
