Our new May - August 2011 Season is here!
We are thrilled to announced that this is our strongest summer season yet - jam-packed with festivals galore and an exciting line-up of music, dance, puppetry, storytelling and new work in both the Factory and Brewery theatres - all of which will be powered by our brand new photovoltaic panels that now cover the entire roof of the Tobacco Factory, producing over 33% of our power and saving over 10 tonnes of carbon a year.
Among the many highlights of this season are two of our favourite festivals. The pulse-racing and playful Mayfest (5 – 14 May) is up first with an eagerly anticipated return of NIE with Tales from a Sea Journey, a beautiful dance piece, May, from Tim Crouch and Probe and the first appearance at the Tobacco Factory of fabulous puppetry company Faulty Optic. Bristol BrouHaHa (14 – 23 July) is back in July with a hilarious line-up of comedians previewing their latest shows destined for Edinburgh, with many more comedy acts to join the current line-up.
We also welcome a new festival this year as World Stage arrives in Bristol in July and for the first time we are working with the Bristol Harbour Festival at the end of that month, showing dance works including the wonderful Sivaloka / Ghatam. Our annual visit from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is really eye-catching this year as they bring us a huge John Godber season, including his new version of On the Piste, and we have a great line-up for families including Travelling Light’s Lost and Found and the Olivier Award nominee Potted Panto.
Check out our new season now online and if a sparkly new brochure hasn’t hit your letterbox by the end of this week, you can pick one up from the theatre, around town or email us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your name and address and we’ll whip one over to you.
