Weekly Update: 8 Jan 2010

Happy New Year! It may be freezing cold outside, but it’s toasty at the TF, as we enter the final week of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves which has been playing to packed out audiences of children and adults over the festive season. Already been to see Ali Baba and after a theatrical hit to keep you going through the dark January days? Why not head down to our new Brewery Theatre to check out Handel and the Darkening Moon, a lyrical exploration of the great composer’s turbulent life, featuring some of his most beautiful music.

4 stars for Ali Baba as it enters its final week

Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves received a fantastic 4 stars in today’s Guardian. Lyn Gardner thought the show wasHugely enjoyable… a terrific family night out that will have everyone leaving the theatre with a skip in their step. Read the full review here.
*UPDATE* And there was another 4-star review yesterday in the Mail on Sunday: The best Christmas show this enterprising venue has ever done…The whole thing is a genuine treat.

Ghost stories for chilly winter nights

Master storyteller and performer Robert Lloyd Parry returns to the TF in a couple of weeks with the final installment of his MR James trilogy. A Warning to the Curious plays the Brewery Theatre from 20 Jan - 07 Feb, and there’s also a chance to catch Robert’s previous two sell-out shows A Pleasing Terror and Oh Whistle… if you missed them when they played the main space last year.
