As I write, the design and technical team are hard at work transforming the theatre into an Italian-style rustic workshop wonderland. Meanwhile, five minutes up the road at Soundworks, rehearsals are continuing apace, with another run through scheduled for this afternoon. Press night is just a week away and yesterday actress Peta Dennis, who plays Pinocchio, took some time out to reflect on the rehearsal process so far…

So, here we all are on one of the last lunch breaks before we embark on our Pinocchio adventure. Soon, we will have to wave goodbye to our lovely director and bloomin’ well just get on with things on our own. But not yet!  In precisely one week we will be preparing for Preview number two and apparently, according to Andy, we’re in good shape. Hooray!  We’ve just finished our first proper run through of the entire show. None of us can believe how fast our rehearsal time has gone; it’s been amazing, fun, mad, hysterical, and ever so slightly confusing at times, but I can honestly say that I love walking into this crazy ideas factory every day – it’s a brilliant job! 

On a personal note, so far I have had my head encased in plaster, spent way too much time curled in a crazy ball under a table and spent many a waking hour trying to figure out how somebody made of wood would go about their daily business. I think I’m finally getting to grips with this lovable little puppet boy.  Here’s hoping everybody else will love him too!
